A split basement, extension and full refurbishment programme is proposed to this Grade II Listed building in Highgate, North London.
Complex planning considerations and existing underground constraints required an unusual basement design accessed via a new split stair, in perforated steel and terrazzo. Proposed extensions to the rear are elegant and contemporary in design and deliberately set apart from the existing building with thin framed roof lights. White brick, white oiled Douglas fir, polished concrete and terrazzo formulate the restrained material palette.
